What is the Pokemon Trading Card Game?
In the Pokemon Trading Card Game you and your opponent take the role of competing Pokemon trainers. Each turn you can boost your Pokemon’s attack power by adding Energy cards to that Pokemon, play special Trainer cards and even evolve the Pokemon into stronger forms. Your goal is to Knock Out your opponent’s Pokemon by attacking with your Pokemon.

You and your opponent will each need a 60-card deck. You will also need some counters to keep track of damage on the different Pokemon in play and a coin for flipping. You may also find it helpful to use the playmat provided in many Pokemon Trading Card Game products to help learn the game-setup, but it is not required for play. You can make changes to your deck by using cards from booster packs or purchasing single cards, this way you can make your deck fit your Pokemon and playing style.
